Mohamed Moustafa Dawoud

PhD Student

Mohamed is a PhD student working at the intersection of security, privacy, AI, technology policy, and human factors. In his work, Mohamed investigates how different stakeholders form their mental models to uncover misalignments, misunderstandings, and compliance failures. He also designs and evaluates systems that leverage AI to help users, practitioners, and policymakers better navigate digital risks and make technology more transparent and usable.

Sabrina Reis

PhD Student

Sabrina is a first-year PhD student working at the intersection of network security, privacy, systems, and internet measurement. In her work, Sabrina develops new approaches and tools to investigate and mitigate censorship, surveillance, and digital privacy infringements. She also builds platforms to measure and expand access to open, affordable, and reliable internet.

PhD Student

Ramon is a first-year PhD student working on optimizing open source privacy and security tools to by identifying inefficiencies and bottlenecks. This will make these tools more efficient and secure while keeping the privacy features. He will also be working on creating open source security tools.

Rohit Nagubandi

Rohit (he/him) is a graduate student in Computer Science at UC Santa Cruz, specializing in the intersection of privacy, network security, and sustainable computing. Motivated by the absence of open tools to quantify and optimize web energy usage, Rohit’s work also addresses the critical need to improve carbon efficiency in decentralized privacy networks, a topic he believes is vital for a sustainable digital future.
